Got a New Phone (PDA)- Sony Ericsson P990i
I am a great mobile phone freak. This phone P990i was in my watchlist since it was announced . It came into market some 7-8 months back and i thought its the perfect time to get it now . when the prices for this has fallen down. i paid 18000 INR (450 $). The only thing in the specification that doesn’t satisfy me is the incompatibility of this phone for the EDGE data . and the place where i am currenty put up doesn’t have 3G service . only EDGE is there which this phone doesn’t support . though i have a broadband connection in my pc . the camera of p990 is great .
the megapixel value may be less but the picture quality is great and can be compared to a good digital camera picture . the point here is i am writing this post from the same phone p990. it has a qwerty keyboard which makes typing faster and on top of that the phone has predictive text and remembers what u have previously written ( the words) this is really cool. The other cool new technology it has is you can capture a photo of text from its camera and this can recoginize ( or tries its best to do so ) the text and make the text editable. This is the inteliigent PDA i must say. while everybody around the US and EUROPE are busy with the iPhone hype .i am quite satisfied with this PDA .anyway in india iPhone is not available now. and i thinkthe iPhone is just overhyped . there are lots of good phones like the p990 othe than iPhone. The one thing i like to complain is i was not able to open up the back battery cover . i tried hard but ultimately i had to take help of a knife and opened it.. Its very tight . the knife made some scratches though. i searched for “how to open the back cover of p990″ i got some of the people having similar problem the photo of the box was taken by the 2Mpix camera of P990. click on the image below to see the full resolution picture.

Previously i had a Nokia PDA mobile Nokia 7710. This phone was good in a respect that it had a large display ( 640*320 ) but the processor was so slow that it used to take some 5 minutes for the phone to boot up and other inbuilt applications also used to take loads of time. i hated it then but i loved its large display primarily very useful while surfing the net from the mobile.

The Sony Ericsson you got sounds cool. Did you have any trouble shifting you contacts from you previous phone? I use a free service called ZYB (http://zyb.com) where you can swap contacts between any phones in the world.
