HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR
Many of the hotels and textile showrooms cheat the customers this way & watch privately.
HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR:
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, r actually a 2-way mirror i.e., they can see you, but you can’t see them). There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or bathroom or bedrooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just
looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at?
CONDUCT THIS SIMPLE TEST:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (there is someone seeing you from the
other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror,do the “fingernail test.” It doesn’t cost you anything. It is simple to do. This is a really good thing to do. The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is because the silver is on the back of the
mirror UNDER the glass. Whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on the Surface. Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter in hotel rooms.May be someone is making a film on you.

All this tells you is whether you are looking at a 1st surface mirror or a 2nd surface mirror. Nothing more. Doesn’t correlate to anything else.

What makes a “two-way” mirror is that the metallic coating is thin enough to let some of the light through. If one side is illuminated and one side is dark, the bright side will be a mirror. If the mirror is just hanging on the wall (try to wiggle it), it’s just a mirror. If it’s rigidly mounted, there might be a window behind it.

The best way to tell if it is a 2-way mirror is to shine a flashlight at it. If the flashlight’s actual light reflects onto the wall behind you, it’s a real mirror, if not, it’s a 2-way.

Umm, when the 2 way mirror is initially installed, simply placing a layer of unmirrored glass over the suspected 2 way mirror will soundly defeat your test. Imagine that!
One test that can be made to work in both scenarios: shine a really bright light into the suspect mirror (a laser pointer seems a good idea, though I’ve not used a laser pointer for this test). Next, darken the lights in your room and place your face tightly against the suspicious mirror, looking through the mirror as if it was heavily tinted glass. There are no perfect 2 way mirrors that are perfect at blocking reverse light coming to you from the observation area, so when the light YOU shine into the mirror is transmitted to the other side, your light will strike objects in the room on the other side. With your face up close to the suspect glass, you should easily see the items that you are illuminating, because a 2 way mirror cannot be made perfectly one way.

And a new temple has been raised, and another synapse has been sacrificed to the Almighty Paranoia.
This double mirror suspicion might be relevant, if you are James Bond.
